Juve-Roma 0-0. Fear is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It is dangerous when fear becomes panic. It is valid in finance and also in football and politics. Being afraid, in itself, is right. But then one must implement the most appropriate reactions. Courage is not ignorance of the risk. It is not recklessness. It means knowing the risk, but acting intelligently to face it and defeat it. This is true for Roma and for the Nazis in Germany.

The Romanisti in the away section added a touch of colour to a stadium that was mostly black and white.

Much better than the previous games. Roma went to Turin, playing with courage, even at times with the defense in the opponent's half. I would be lying if I said that Roma dominated. On points, perhaps Juventus deserved the victory more. In any case, in my opinion, the draw was fair. We played with courage, but we never risked capitulating.

Perhaps the only time we took a risk was when Juventus went down to 5: fast and on the counterattack, but we came back in large numbers and closed well. Courage involves the risks of your choices. There will be other situations like this. In these cases, we must go back in large numbers and quickly to plug the gap.

Good midfield with Pisilli and Cristante. Good defense. Good Soulé on the right. Although I would have perhaps preferred Dybala from the first minute. The most interesting purchase, for me, is Manu Koné. Intelligent, when at the last minute, with the possibility of trying a final assault, he passes the ball back, making it clear, as is right, that the draw is fine.

The judgment on these first 3 games remains negative. Roma will restart from Genoa with a handicap. With Juve, we have shown that we deserve a better ranking. Now is the time to conquer it. We need caution. Defensive phase. But if caution is dictated by fear it could become a self-fulfilling prophecy. As fear often is. Two goals conceded in three games means that the defensive phase works. Now we must try to risk more. We must score more goals. We must have more courage. As our great Coach, Daniele De Rossi, asks.

All you want is in the other side of fear. Jack Canfield.

Just as courage is needed for Roma’s tactics, courage is needed for democrats all over the world, especially in Germany. The success of AfD in Thuringia and Saxony is very worrying. The mix of racism, ignorance and economic crisis is explosive not only for Germany, but for all of Europe. The past teaches us and we must learn from the past to avoid the same mistakes. What were the mistakes of the last century?

We all agree that freedom of speech is one of the foundations of democracy. I don't think it's right to outlaw the AfD, despite a poorly disguised approval of Nazism, which is a crime in Germany. There are many analogies with a century ago. Germany is experiencing an economic crisis because during COVID it did not take decisions to support the economy, so while Italy, also thanks to the 110% bonus, is growing, Germany is not. Added to this is Schulz's policy, always too hesitant, sometimes following the positions of racists, sometimes not convinced enough of alternative positions.

So the situation is really worrying. If we react with fear and weakness, they will take advantage of it. We need to form an anti-fascist front, which gathers all the anti-fascist forces. Taking a stand is necessary. Equally necessary is a policy of content alternative to that of the Nazis. It is not by chasing the battles of the Nazis that you will collect their vote. If one can choose between wine and wine with water, choose wine. Instead, we need to educate the population. The extreme right feeds on ignorance.

Thuringia and Saxony are the regions with the lowest percentage of immigrants, so racism, which can never be justified, does not even have a sociological basis. Racism and far-right parties feed on low levels of education and ignorance. Perhaps it would be worth remembering how much damage is done by vocational schools that neglect Latin, Greek, history and philosophy, those subjects of the much-maligned classical high school that teach how to think and live much better.

When fear becomes panic it is a self-fulfilling prophecy. You have to know how to react. You have to act with courage. Tactically it is right in football, in politics and in life. Come on Roma!
