Head and heart. Roma-Neom 2-2. FC Bologna.

This blog pursues two ambitious and challenging goals: world peace and Roma's victory. This mission is driven by the emotions evoked in me by images of war and Roma's matches. It's a matter of the heart. Achieving this goal requires study, reasoning, and attention to detail; it requires a clear head.

Not good for the last friendly before the start of the season. In particular, we conceded two goals on the counterattack too easily. For Gasperini's game, we need to be better in one-on-one situations. And in any case, if the central backs move up, the central midfielders need to stay back.

Cristante scored the goals, and Soulé scored a particularly good one from a great assist from Rensch. However, Soulé, in my opinion, can't perform at his best as a left winger. We'll have to see if Jadon Sancho, a left-sided attacker, arrives, or if we should consider playing with a 352, strengthening the midfield, given the defensive problems against Aston Villa and Neom.

In any case, the center forward is also a problem: Ferguson and Dovbyk were inadequate on Saturday. Dovbyk was better at laying off, but he's left-footed like Dybala and Soulè. Considering El Sha's defensive development, which can also play left-back, giving Angelino a rest, we need to look for a right-footed striker, preferably a second striker, because Ferguson is the only one right-footed right-footed right-footer right now. In this sense, Jadon Sancho is excellent. For Dybala and Soulè, we need to consider a relay. Perhaps against Bologna, starting with Matias, since he's the one with the ball. We'll then see what Gasp decides.

Baldanzi (also a left-footed right winger) performed well in the first 15 minutes of the second half, then faded somewhat. He could be a valuable asset in the final half hour, even as a midfielder, as DDR used him. Hermoso also performed well, having best adapted to Gasperini's playing style, perhaps mindful of the lessons learned from Cholo Simeone at Atletico Madrid.

Our first opponent of the championship and the season is Italiano's Bologna. They're an excellent team, one of the best in Serie A and the Europa League. I don't see us as such favorites. It will be difficult to secure a victory, but if we do, we'll start to steer the season in the right direction. Head and heart.

Odgaard behind Immobile, which then becomes my favorite tactic in football when defending and pressing: the 442 with Odgaard level with Immobile and the wingers with inverted feet. Orsolini, the right winger, is completely left-footed and usually moves towards the center to shoot with his killer left foot. Dominguez similarly plays on the left wing with his right foot (although often starting as a second striker, he moves centrally into the defensive line to suggest the central through ball). Cambiaghi, who is very good at dribbling and providing assists, could play in his place. The full-backs move up a lot, unbalancing the team and leaving the two central backs often one-on-one against the attackers, but they have Lucumi, who is one of the three best defenders in Italy, but he will have either Soulè or Dybala up front. Daje Matias! Daje Paulo!

There are 2 superficial observations of mine on Bologna which I list in order of importance.

  1. Be especially wary of counterattacks from Immobile, Orsolini, and Dominguez. Immobile will forever be a Lazio icon; he'll be very much in control of the game and is a powerful attacker, also good with his head on crosses from the wings. Mancini will have to put in a strong performance against him. Daje Gianluca!
  2. The true playmaker is Orsolini. Freuler, who can superficially be identified as the primary builder, is a trap. He's not the first choice in build-up play (in any case, you have to man-mark him too). The choice is often the right side, with Orsolini dropping deep with the right back (Holm or De Silvestri) going up front. Angelino and Ndicka (or Hermoso) will play a key role on our left side.
To summarise this concept, as you can see from the image, Vitik passes to Orsolini (1) who has gone back, who then decides whether to lay off the ball to the playmaker (2a) (here Freuler, but it could also be Fabbian), or pass to his side for the right back (2b), or launch a long ball directly to Immobile who is very quick to get to the offside line (2c).

They press the central backs with Odgaard and Immobile and the midfielders with their midfielders.

They man-mark corners. Here at Stuttgart. Bologna won the match 0-1 (Vitik).
Here in white at home against Ofi Crete. The Cretans won the match 2-4.

In attacking corners, the strongest of Balanzone's rossoblu is Vitik.

On the left, we see the Russians at the meeting in Alaska: Ushakov, the US expert on Russia; Lavrov, the Foreign Minister, the crucial interpreter, essential to avoid misunderstandings; and Putin, the Russian president. On the right, the American representatives. From the far right, Witkoff, the negotiator; Rubio, the Secretary of State, the other crucial interpreter; and Trump, the US president.

World peace is as dear to me as Rome. The rule of the Roman Empire meant peace to many peoples. Donald Trump's work for peace is very honorable, but we already knew what Russia wanted to end the war. It's still unclear what it wants to concede, and this needed to be made clear at the summit.

It is much better if the conflict in Ukraine ends with a peace treaty and not with frozen positions. tipo Corea As Europe had envisaged. Ukraine could accept the territorial swap if it saw the entire provinces of Kherson and Zaporizhia returned to Ukraine, including the important nuclear power plant.

It's very important that Russia has accepted the presence of European troops in Ukraine, likely those of the willing, Great Britain and France, and that it accepts Ukraine's membership in NATO: a guarantee for the future. In the coming days, we'll see whether Russia's goodwill isn't just in words but also in action. Meanwhile, it's natural that Zelensky can't say yes to Russia's requests without Russia granting something.

We've coldly analyzed Roma's opponent and the peace talks in Ukraine, but along with the head, there's always a need for the heart. Roma and peace are two passions that touch good feelings, the heart. Images of Gaza or Ukraine touch the heart. It's therefore human for someone to want peace, world peace. Roma, too, is a reversal of sentiments. The Roma fans who go to the stadium will have to put their heart into it, those on the pitch will have to put their head into it.

Daje Roma!
