Newport-Rome 1-4. Experiments that work: multiculturalism and the 352. Brighton.
The word "experiment" derives from "spes" (hope in Latin). It means putting one's hopes into practice. Like many communities, they are experimenting with multiculturalism, and like Roma, they are experimenting with new tactical solutions. But "experiment" doesn't just have a political or sporting meaning; it was also very important in Galileo's writings when he invented the scientific method. And even in music, especially jazz, experimentation and improvisation are a way for musicians to best express their talents.
Multiculturalism is an experiment that's working. In most major European cities, different religions and cultures are blending. Racism and hatred toward other religions are nonexistent here. Many Muslims are becoming socialists and therefore libertarians, like New York Mayor Mamdani and London Mayor Kahn. Muslim Pakistanis live alongside Hindu Bangladeshis and Catholic Italians. Racism feeds on ignorance, and often those who call themselves racist are simply not exposed to other cultures.
However, multiculturalism is not a novelty in Western culture since the mother of Western culture, Rome, welcomed all races, all cultures and all religions.
There are neighborhoods that have been naturally multicultural for twenty or thirty years. Multiculturalism has become structural to the people's spirit (to invoke Hegel), and indeed national football teams are naturally multiracial and multicultural. Likewise, Roma must begin to make its experiments structural, if these experiments are the path it wants to follow.

The match against Newport County was shaped by many of Gasp's experiments. As you can see, Hermoso was initially deployed as a midfielder, where he played very well. Overall, this 352 formation convinces me. Necessity must be made a virtue, and given the problems finding a left attacking midfielder, a switch to a 352 formation is a possibility.
Now we move up a level and face a Premier League team: Brighton & Hove Albion.
In March 2024 we faced Brighton in the UEL round of 16 and won the first leg 4-0. Here You can read the pre-match press release for the first leg. Note that I didn't write a word about Ferguson, who had an unlucky season with us last year.
Brighton has changed a lot in the last two years. Gross is still there as playmaker. Facundo Buonanotte, the highly technical attacking midfielder, is still there. We'll have to keep an eye on Minteh's pace and Mitoma's hunger for goals. We'll be able to experiment with the 352 again, after which the tactics must become structural because the start of the season is approaching.
