L’odio verso Roma e ciò che sta accadendo: stiamo diventando degni di questo grande nome. The hate against Roma and what is happening: we are becoming worthy of this great name.

Dopo che ebbi con piacere accettato ciò e che ho incominciato a chiedergli che non indugiasse a condurmi con lui, in quel momento egli disse:” lo farò quando mi avrai giurato quanto ti chiedo”. Nello stesso tempo mi condusse verso l’altare, presso il quale avevo deciso di sacrificare, dopo, allontanato gli altri,ordinò di promettere con giuramento:”mai io sarò in amicizia con i romani!”

Quando lessi questo passo durante la mia infanzia (leggendo una storia di Roma per bambini), rimasi molto impressionato. Perchè tanto odio? Perchè tanto odio verso Roma  che io amo tanto? Ma aldilà del mio amore, perchè provare così tanto rancore verso una città? Una città che ha dato un contributo importante in termini di arte, cultura, diritti. Che ha dato un contributo fondamentale all’evoluzione dell’uomo. Una città che ha sempre accolto popolazioni e religioni diverse, a volte imparando e facendosi conquistare da queste nuove culture come una donna sognatrice che si innamora sempre. Una città che ha sempre mescolato culture e religioni, capitale dell’eclettismo e eclettica nel senso più vero del termine. Eppure questo odio è arrivato ai giorni nostri. Si è rafforzato in Italia e mentre al Centro e al Meridione continuava ad avere i caratteri della rivalità calcistica (con Juve, Lazio e Napoli), al Nord aveva carattere anche politico con la Lega Nord che, unendo la città ha la sua responsabilità politica di Capitale d’Italia, la chiamava “Roma ladrona” ( per usare i termini meno incivili). I romani sono sempre stati visti come persone volgari che ostentavano una falsa superiorità e per questo cresceva l’odio. Ci sono anche romani che odiano la città e la squadra che ne porta il nome, il simbolo e i colori. Poi però vorrebbero fregiarsi del valore del suo significante, tipo la pagina facebook “l’Aquila è Roma” (Ma come?!?). E poi ci siamo noi tifosi romanisti. Noi che non ci vergogniamo del nome di Roma. Anzi che diciamo con orgoglio “So de Roma e della Roma”. Lo diciamo da quando eravamo bambini, quando forse non ci rendevamo conto di quanti significati, di quanto valore e quanti conti avremmo pagato per dirci Romanisti. Forse non sapevamo nell’interezza l’importanza del nome. D’altronde la Roma era la rometta che combatteva per l’ultimo posto disponibile in Coppa UEFA, molte volte perdendo la sfida. Ma i bambini di oggi vedono la Roma andare per cinque anni consecutivi in Champions, combattere e sconfiggere con onore e dignità avversari forti, nobili e valorosi. Noi non ce ne rendevamo conto del nome di Roma. Ma stiamo lasciando ai bambini del 2018-19, ognuno con il loro piccolo contributo, un club degno del nome meraviglioso di Roma, dell’unica città eterna del mondo. Daje Roma!

When I read this passage during my childhood (reading a history of Rome for children), I was very impressed. Why so much hate? Why so much hatred towards Rome that I love so much? But beyond my love, why try so much rancor towards a city? A city that has made an important contribution in terms of art, culture and rights. Which has made a fundamental contribution to the evolution of man. A city that has always welcomed different peoples and religions, sometimes by learning and being captivated by these new cultures as a dreamer woman who falls in love forever. A city that has always mixed cultures and religions, the capital of eclecticism and eclectic in the truest sense of the term. Yet this hatred has arrived today. It is reinforced in Italy and while in the Center and the South continued to have the characters of the football rivalry (with Juve, Lazio and Napoli), the North also had political affiliations with the Lega Nord, joining the city has its political responsibility of Capital of Italy, he called it “Rome ladrona” (to use the less uncivilized terms). The Romans have always been seen as vulgar people who flaunted a false superiority and therefore hatred grew. Perhaps we did not know the importance of the name in whole. On the other hand, Roma was the rometta who fought for the last place available in the UEFA Cup, many times losing the challenge. But today’s children see Rome going for five consecutive years in the Champions, fighting and defeating with honor and dignity strong, noble and brave opponents. We did not realize the name of Rome. But we are leaving the children of 2018-19, each with their small contribution, a club worthy of the marvelous name of Roma, of the only eternal city in the world. Daje Roma!
