Thursday's opponent: the Young Boys.

After a heavy defeat like the one against Napoli, this match is a good thing. For us, to understand if it was just a bad day or there are reasons for a deeper crisis. For the team, to show that the tactical mechanisms work again and we have the character and strength to get back up when we fall. All this in a match that is not of great importance formally because we are already qualified and we just need a draw to finish first in the group.

The Young Boys comes from Bern, a city born near one of the 12 forts of the Helvetians mentioned by Julius Caesar in the “De Bello Gallico”. The real founder of the city is, however, Berthold V of Zahringer who in the first hunting trip, in the area where Bern will be founded, met a bear as the first animal, which became the heraldic logo of the city.

They build the game with Lustenberger, Rieder and Sierro. Under construction, the worst are Zesiger and Buergy. If we go to press them, we can recover the ball very high. In general, they do not disdain rough sliding, so it will be important that we play well, but also that the referee protects us.

The first player that struck me was Gianluca Gaudino, left winger and midfielder, with his right foot educated (genetically and for teaching) by his father (Maurizio Gaudino), spearhead of Stuttgart who reached the UEFA Cup final in 1988- 89, then defeated by Maradona's Napoli. Although the player is good at free kicks, he doesn't find space among the Bernese players because he lacks the right experience and needs to improve in the defensive phase.

Maurizio Gaudino

The most dangerous player of the Bernese gialloneri is the right winger, whether Fassnacht (right) or Sulejmani (left). They are both very good at assisting. The former is also very dangerous when shooting from outside. For me, Gerardo Seoane could field Sulejmani who as the right winger is the one who plays the most, especially dangerous in assist, with more experience in high-level matches. We will also have to pay attention to Nsame who is the central striker

Regardless of the score, which is not as important as always at a formal level for the standings, it is important to win and convince. There are two aspects that interest me the most: the pressing that must be collective and courageous and the match of our right-back (whether Bruno Peres or Karsdorp), both in the defensive phase and in the offensive phase. It is important to know how to attack even with the right-back, who in the same way must also ensure a good defensive phase.

I foresee a very defensive match for the Bernese, so the game plan is pressing, management of possession and nastiness in shooting. Our goal is to win. Daje Roma!
